I have always enjoyed creating something with my own hands. Whether I was drawing with crayons or building macaroni sculptures, it didn't matter as long as I was making something that I could show off. That's what art used to be about for me. I would draw nonstop on notebook paper in school and show my doodles to my friends. To me, art was a form of communication. A way to forget my doubts. My teachers made me realize how far I could actually push my talent and encouraged me to continue pursuing art. I finally began to realize that creating art shouldn't be just for the enjoyment of others, but for myself as well. I believe that's what makes someone an artist, if they put a little piece of themselves into everything they create. I hope to not only put a bit of myself into every drawing or painting I do, but to share that piece of myself with others.
Since middle school, I have wanted to be a tattoo artist. I thoroughly enjoy the art of tattooing as well as the challenge of learning a new medium of art that not too many artists know how to use. This career choice led me to attend Northern Illinois University (NIU). I came to this school to obtain my B.A. in art, but quickly found my love for printmaking and a path to a BFA. I intend to purse tattooing after I receive my degree while continuing my practice as a fine artist.
